2018 has started with a break. A chance to go home (WA) and take a breather. Also a chance to see what my 3 foals look like in person!
Little Phryne is the sweetest of the three being the youngest and the only girl. She is by Passenger xx out of Hoc’s Sun Rey and already looks like she is going to be a feisty big girl.
Samuel being the middle child was a little stand offish at the start of my visit home but soon over came his reluctance to be touched and by the end of my holiday was enjoying scratches and snuggles. Sam is by Sandhills Sensation out of Capernaum (a TB mare). He currently looks the least unimpressive of the three by who knows what sort of horse he may grow into.
Dart is the eldest confident ‘child’. By Desert Storm a cheeky, friendly and confident stallion here at Heatherbrae and out of Commands a Fortune (TB) the boss of the small herd he has inherited their confident easy going natures.
All three were halter ‘broken’ when I was home and taught to lead. I am not sure broken is the right word as none of them needing any breaking, just a little persuasion over which direction they should be going. At the moment they all look fantastic and who knows which one will be the star of the bunch or how good they will be. But at the moment they are all fantastic.
It was so good to go home and have a break and catch up with family. Its now time to start the year, with all the horses back in work and the first dressage day of the year entered. Fingers crossed this year brings some great results with three hopefully out Eventing in Femme de Renaissance (Giselle), Phantom Hideaway (Heidi, Guy Wallace’s mare from WA) and Springs Black Jack (Stock horse stallion) and a sponsorship from Willow Beast we will be looking sharp in our new Eventing shirts.
