Auction of the Stars was on last weekend here at Ryans in Heatherbrae, NSW.
It is to blame for me being extra quiet on the blog front. I have been caught up in running the social media campaign and the Auction of the Stars website which ran Online bidding! Check out the website www.auctionofthestars.com.au
Putting the Auction of the Stars together takes a fair bit of time and energy from everyone here with photos of all the horses taken 6 or so weeks out and then the catalogue put together and then the advertising of all the Lots and then making sure the ridden horses are going well and that the unridden look good and more…
Its a crazy time but it always amazes me how everyone know their job and gets to it. This Auction was no exception, though it did have the added complication of going online!
Saturday morning saw all of us staff up early and out cleaning stables, plaiting horses and foals, brushing tails and putting the finishing touches on the Arena. We were for the first time Live Streaming the presentation of all the Lots on the Saturday so everyone and everything was prepared to look their best. There were 27 Lots to show off with 22 of them freeschooled in the arena and 5 presented under saddle and for ridden trialing. Everything was running pretty smoothly until Heath was running 20minutes late for the start of the show, but we managed to pull through and every horse was presented and then once the 27 lots were through we ran a stallion master class, a jumping display and Heath and Rozzie finished the day with a Grand Prix Pas de Duex.

Sunday was Auction day itself. Though all the Lots needed to be presented again before the start of the Auction. It was busy busy for all of us and in amongst it all we had the local news NBN News come down to do a story on all the Action, and guess who got to be interviewed??? Me!
They did two stories, one on the Auction and one on the Horses Birthday on the 1st of August!
In the meantime we were on countdown to the start of the Auction and my stomach was churning, it was my responsibility to make sure the online bidding ran smoothly. We opened up with the Stallion service fees and they went fast, so fast I was barely able to keep up with the online system which only helped to increase my nerves as we got closer to the big money involved with some of the horses. I didn’t want to mess up a $40,000 sale…
In the end it all ran fairly smoothly, and we even sold a few horses through the online system and had some interested bidders. It was great to see people getting involved and embracing the new technology.
I even managed to pick up a beautiful broodmare Je T’aime R who is in foal to MSJ Nemo (possibly the best bred dressage stallion in the world today). So things are about to get interesting with 4 foals due this season!
By the time it was all over it was time for us to crash into bed and recover from a big weekend!
